A Season of Transition for All Saints’ Attleboro

10462868_846153045397171_6527816607186312104_nSUNDAY, OCTOBER 18 – Bishop Bill visited All Saints’ Anglican Church, Attleboro this past weekend and was able to meet with their ministry team on both Saturday and Sunday for a time of significant discussion and insight during this season of transition. Though Bp. Bill preached and presided over the service on Sunday, much work was also done on the day before, particularly in regards to the transition that will be happening at our Attleboro congregation.

The Rev. Dr. Lance Giuffrida, the All Saints’ Rector, is facing the possibility of a disabling medical treatment for a severe condition that has made it hard for him to minister. This has led the parish and our Bishop to agree that arrangements should be made for Fr. Lance to gradually reduce the workload he has in ministry until he is able to transition into full retirement. The All Saints’ vestry and Bp. Bill met for a full three hours on Saturday and arrived at this consensus in a spirit of love and support for Fr. Lance and his family.

God willing, there will be a search committee started and an interim rector called by the first of the year. As part of the agreed upon pastoral transition plan, Fr. Lance will remain as full-time rector until July 1, 2016. A plan was approved for his gradual reduction of service from that point forward as Rector Emeritus for a period of two years, during which The Rev. Leah Turner and The Rev. Ben Giuffrida will support Fr. Lance and the ministry at All Saints’ Attleboro until an interim priest is appointed.

Please keep the All Saints’ Attleboro community and the entire Giuffrida family in your prayers throughout the coming months as they enter into this season of difficulty and transition. Pray that God’s hand be on Fr. Lance as he goes through the medical process, that the Lord would heal him and provide him with much needed comfort.
