Episcopal Visit: Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd

This past weekend, Bishop Bill visited the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd and was able to spend some time with their vicar, The Rev. Jeremy Phelps, along with the previous Interim Vicar, The Rev. Jim Gunn, who joined them at dinner the night before. They were able to catch up on the mission and ministry pertaining to the community on Cape Cod.

On Sunday, Bishop Bill had the privilege of baptizing Fr. Jeremy’s son, Jude Maccabeus Phelps. He also preached on the ministry of the Word of God and its interpretation through exegetical study and figurative application. Both exegetical study and a sacramental encounter with Jesus Christ, the living Word, by the Spirit should be occurring in our interactions with the Scripture. Encountering the Word is transformational to the soul as we encounter Jesus in our hearts.

Sunday evening, Bishop Bill also traveled to Attleboro to negotiate the letter of agreement between All Saints’ Anglican Church and their new rector, The Rev. Craig Vickerman, who preached and served for the first time that day. It was a thrilling time for the All Saints’ community (read more about this transition here). We are thankful to all involved for this exciting Spirit-filled new start in Attleboro. Please keep them in your prayers.
